About this Event

As always we will start the class with some breathing, Qigong and a short movement section to get the energy flowing. Then we will practice some Yin Yoga for the Vagus Nerve. This is the longest of your cranial nerves, running from the brainstem to the abdomen. This nerve is responsible for breathing, digestion, heart rate/cardiovascular activity, and mental health. Research is being done into the link between the gut and the brain, in particular various ways to stimulate the vagus nerve to boost wellbeing and reduce levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in our bodies. These methods include diaphragmatic breathing techniques and yoga. We will be doing exercises for this, and some vocal techniques too, but as always there is no obligation to join in unless you feel comfortable. That said, it's surprising how many people find their voices in a relaxed and safe environment, and more and more of my students are finding they are able to release tensions and 'stuck' emotions in the chakra toning section of the class, where they feel held and supported by the group. Again, participation is as much or as little as you feel like on the day, but everyone gains something from being in the circle.

We will finish with a blissful soundbath, with beautiful sounds from a quartz crystal singing pyramid and vocalisation from me, and some lovely singing bowl sounds from Kevin Innes.

If you can make it before 1pm, there is a seated area outside the room where you can have a hot drink, and we will set up at 1pm when the room becomes available - please let me know if you don't have your own mat, cushions or blankets - the room is warm but it's still a lovely experience to build your own cosy nest for a deeply immersive rest at the end of the class.

Look forward to seeing you there! Please advise me of any health issues I should know about prior to the event.

Om Shanti ??
