Vocal Flow Sounding Circle with Joule L’Adara
Wearing eye masks, participants are invited to feel comfortable and unobserved, facilitated to freely sound with their voices in a way that is non-performative. This practice begins with floor work and a short sound meditation to prepare the body for deep listening. The group is next guided through a series of vocal toning explorations designed to slowly warm up and gently open the vocal instrument. This session is mindfully structured to take participants through a sequence starting with the awareness from inside the body moving outward, utilizing specific parameters that elicit creativity and freedom of expression. Through profound play, practitioners widen their permissions of what they thought was possible with their voice (and have lots of fun curiously experimenting).
Each session is a unique “explorience” co-created by the unique makeup of attendees of each session, such that participants may experience joy, a release of emotions and endorphins, and emerge from this practice feeling clear, energized and empowered to use their voices in their life and art.
Who this workshop is for:
Anyone wanting to learn to use their voice as a tool for self-regulation in a supportive non-confrontational setting. This class is supportive of those with vocal wounding, who feel disempowered about using their speaking or singing voices, who have been told they “can’t sing”, and/or who long to express themselves more freely. This class is also for trained singers and musicians who wish to learn to use their voices in new ways: opening up to freedom from the constraints of having to perform a certain vocal style, and re-directing the vocal focus from outward to inward in the service of self-healing. For all participants, this is a guided group vocal empowerment practice that will reveal surprising insights and new ways to vocalize.
