About Ribera Del Duero
The D.O. Ribera del Duero is a wine region and appellation (D.O) located in Castilla y Leon, Spain, 100 km above Madrid. In total, the region is spread over 4 provinces in Castilla y Leon, 115 km long and 35 km at its widest (Valladolid, Burgos, Segovia and Soria).
In 1864, Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves planted a vineyard on a fertile piece of land, near the village of Valbuena de Duero: Vega Sicilia. He first focused on Bordelese varieties, but over time found that he achieved better results with the local Tinto del País (aka Tempranillo)...
It was not until 1982, however, that the Denominación de Origen was established. Now there are more than 300 affiliated members. The extreme climatic conditions of this region (long, harsh winters versus dry summers) combined with its altitude give exceptional results for the Tempranillo grape.
This event is a unique opportunity to discover the diversity of the Ribera del Duero wines!
