About this Event
A screening of Vlassis Caniaris: Anniversary, an episode of the important ongoing cultural programme The Era of Images, devised and presented by Katerina Zacharopoulou for the Greek Public TV ERT. After the 50’ screening, Director of the Hellenic Centre Dr. Nayia Yiakoumaki will lead a tour of the exhibition Vlassis Caniaris: Selected Works 1960s – 1980s.
The film was produced in 2009 two years before the artist’s death. It covers his career from the early days, explores some of his key ideas and presents the artist’s exhibition Genethlion (Anniversary) at the Benaki Museum, Athens (2009). It is a rare encounter with the artist in conversation with Katerina Zacharopoulou, filmed at the artist's house in Athens surrounded by some members of his family and his most important works.
Katerina Zacharopoulou is an artist and creator of The Era of Images, a Greek TV show about visual arts that covers major exhibitions in Greece and abroad, while important artists, collectors and art historians from Greece and around the world have been hosted on the set. Zacharopoulou is also the creator of the audiovisual archive of contemporary art "Save the Dates" ASFA-EMST-ERT.
The film is courtesy of the Archive of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT SA).
