A Brief History of DAOU
Founded by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou, DAOU Vineyards sits atop the breathtaking DAOU Mountain in Paso Robles, California. Once praised by legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff as “a jewel of ecological elements,” this unique terroir boasts calcareous soils, high elevation, and ideal diurnal shifts—perfect for producing powerful, elegant, and age-worthy wines.
With a vision to create Cabernet Sauvignons that rival the best in the world, the Daou brothers left their careers in technology and dedicated themselves to winemaking. Today, DAOU has become a benchmark of excellence, producing wines of remarkable structure, depth, and finesse—including the iconic Soul of a Lion and the ultra-premium Patrimony Estate.
