About this Event
There's no better way to welcome in the winter than the Hitchin Winter Festival, now in its 33rd year. Vivamus is delighted to be joining the programme with a concert of wonderful advent music, in collaboration with some of London's finest musicians of all ages.
Programme
We'll deliver a rousing performance of Benjamin Britten's Saint Nicolas, a varied work which captures the saint's life and character. Saint Nicolas' story from birth, through his deeds to his death and beyond in his remembrance, will all be told with emotion, drama, and a decent helping of humour.
We'll be performing a range of traditional and modern works alongside, all of which capture the special spirit of advent. Hear pieces by Andrew Carter, Jonathan Dove, James Macmillan and John Tavener. Plus, compositions by Hitchin's very own Iain Farrington, and Vivamus' own Rufus Frowde.
Performers
We're always delighted to be conducted by the wonderful Rufus Frowde. And we're proud to be joined by other influential musicians and singers:
- The Paean Ensemble
- Graham Neal, tenor
- Tom Winpenny, organ
- Samuel Lucas JMI School Choir
- North Herts and Stevenage Youth Orchestra
This is an inclusive advent event, for people of all ages and any beliefs. Bring your friends and family, and we'll see you there!
