Venetian Carnevale is a tradition that began in Venice in the 12th Century and continues to this day. There was a brief 150 year break when the religious powers figured out that everyone was having too much fun. The official complaint from the quarter had something to do with ‘licentious behavior’ - how fabulous. Today, everyone is back on board with celebrating worldly pleasures completely with masks on face and wine in hand. And celebrate worldly pleasures is exactly what we will do on February 22nd, so dust off your most outrageous mask, add a gown, a cape, and a hat if you’re feeling bold.
