Eric Wurzelbacher — tenor saxophone, Brandon Coleman — guitarEric Wurzelbacher is a Cincinnati-based saxophonist who has degrees in both music and Spanish from the University of Cincinnati. His passion for music began at a very young age by regularly being a part of many music festivals, including the Newport Jazz Festival, through a family business. During his time in college, he received awards such as the CCM Honors Scholarship and becoming one of 11 finalists in the U.S. Army’s National Collegiate Solo Competition. After graduating in May of 2015, he won a woodwind position with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and toured Europe for a number of months. Eric currently plays with a number of different groups in Cincinnati including Brother Smith, his original jazz-rock fusion group, ECO Quartet, and leads weekly jazz night at Tillie's Lounge in Northside.
Based out of Cincinnati, OH, Brandon Coleman performs and composes music that is intricate, personal, and cinematic, inspired by his musical idols and his roots in the Appalachian mountains. As a jazz musician, Coleman regularly performs with his own groups, The Brandon Coleman Quartet and Trio, Dayton saxophonist Randy Villars, Mike Wade's BOSEDE, and the NYC-based Sam Blakeslee Quintet, amongst countless other projects.
Coleman has performed at notable venues including – but not limited to – The Blue Wisp Jazz Club, Bop Stop, BluJazz+, Bar Next Door, 55 Bar, Club Bonafide, and Merriman’s Playhouse. His festival appearances include the Loja Jazz Festival (2012) in Loja, Ecuador, the 2014 CBGB Festival in NYC, and the 2014 and 2016 Columbus Jazz & Rib Fests. He has shared the stage with numerous jazz luminaries, including JD Allen, Noah Preminger, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Bill Dobbins.
