A Celebration & Joyful Education party put on by The Wood County Women’s Rights Alliance!❤️💕Join us at the Parkersburg Art Center to introduce the MOV’s newest organization, the Wood County Women’s Rights Alliance! I’d like to share my purpose in using the term “vulva” in our first event. Many consider the word to be dirty or vulgar when in fact it’s just a body part. Half the world has one and it’s estimated 1/3 of the world doesn’t know what or where it even is. In a study done by Teen Vogue in 2016, 60% of women couldn’t label the vulva in drawings. Only 1/1000 could label all 6 parts of the reproductive system. Why does this matter? If you don’t know, or don’t even feel comfortable using, correct terms for your body parts with your medical professional, errors can happen in your medical care. Furthermore, you may miss symptoms or misinterpret changes that are happening to your own body, which could cause delayed medical care for things like cancer. Negative stigmas regarding genitalia are harmful to everyone. Want to join us in joyful education, sips, snacks, and dancing to help put a dent in it? 💃🏻💕
