About this Event

Welcome to El Centro, Inc.'s VITA Latinx program! This is the only VITA program in the area with a focus on the Latinx community. To that end, we strive to capacitate volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish.

Speaking Spanish is NOT a requirement to be a VITA Latinx volunteer. If you are not bilingual, you will be paired with a bilingual, non-tax-preparer volunteer who'll serve as translator.

This first training will serve as an orientation to learn more about the program and get started if you choose to participate. There is no commitment. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. You may bring your laptop if you wish, but it is not necessary!

There will be a total of THREE (3) trainings:

Training I - Thursday, Jan 23

Training II - TBD

Training III - TBD

There will be a total of FIVE (5) VITA Latinx events called SUPER SATURDAYS where volunteers will provide this tax preparation service for attendees. The dates/locations/times are as follows:

March 8 - Marrero Community & Senior Center - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 15 - East New Orleans Regional Library - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 22 - Beanlandia - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 29 - Hispanic Apostolate - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

April 12 - Hispanic Apostolate - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participation in all SUPER SATURDAYS is NOT mandatory. You may choose to participate in as many SUPER SATURDAYS as you'd like.

If you'd like to utilize this volunteer opportunity to fulfill your school's service learning requirement, please contact Roxanne at [email protected] immediately as there is paperwork that must be filled priorly. In addition, El Centro, Inc. will provide a recommendation letter for college student volunteers who partake in THREE (3) SUPER SATURDAYS.

This is a great hands-on opportunity to serve the Greater New Orleans Area community while learning and developing new skills.

We look forward to seeing you!
