Who Qualifies for Free Tax Preparation Services

• Families and/or Individuals with annual household income of less than $75,000

• Assistance may be extended to households exceeding $75,000 if the tax return is within scope and approved by the site coordinator.

• Free services for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and those whose primary language is not English.

Key Services Offered

• Free federal tax preparation for the 2024 tax year, with electronic filing (e-file) for secure and fast processing.

• Assistance with prior tax years (2023 and 2022) beginning in March or earlier, depending on site capacity.

• Preparation of 2021 tax returns for taxpayers due refunds before this year’s filing deadline.

• Availability of 13 VITA locations and select mobile sites throughout Broward County, providing extended hours and weekend opportunities, including Sundays.

Required Documents for Tax Preparation

• Government-issued photo ID and Social Security or ITIN numbers for all included in the return.

• W-2s, 1099 forms, and all relevant income documents.

• Childcare provider information, 1098-T for education, and healthcare-related forms (e.g., 1095-A).

• Direct deposit information for refunds.

• Previous year’s tax returns for reference.

• IRS-issued PIN (for identity theft victims)
