About this Event

Join Art Education Victoria for the VisualArts360 workshop led by artist Kent Morris. Designed to support primary school educators but open to all, this professional development session will explore meaningful ways to integrate visual arts and Cross-Curricular Priorities (CCP) into the classroom. Guided by Kent, participants will engage with sculptural practice and explore how students can connect making with place, materials, and cultural narratives.

Featured artist: Kent Morris is a Barkindji man living on Yaluk-ut Weelam Country in Melbourne. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and alumnus of the National Gallery of Australia's Wesfarmers Indigenous Leadership Program, Kent's practice explores connections between contemporary Indigenous experience and cultural continuity. By reconstructing the built environment through a First Nations lens, his work reveals the continuing presence of Aboriginal history, culture and knowledge in the contemporary landscape. All of Kent's artworks are constructed from a single photograph taken while walking on Country.

What to Expect: In this outdoor walking workshop and Q&A session, Kent will guide participants between two of his public artworks in Richmond and South Yarra, sharing insights into his creative process, material choices, and conceptual approaches. Participants will discover how sculpture and place-based learning can be adapted for the primary school classroom.

  • A guided outdoor sculpture walk with the artist between Richmond and South Yarra
  • Artist talk with Kent Morris exploring his practice and process
  • Exploring how sculptural and place-based approaches can be adapted for the primary school classroom

What to Bring: Please wear comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Pack a MYKI card for public transport between locations if weather requires.
