About this Event
Clarity Haynes is a painter based in New York City. Her work centers on the torso as a site for portraiture, queer feminist altars as a site for still life, and the subject of crowning and birth. Her work has been widely exhibited, including at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut; the Bunker Art Space, Miami, Florida; and New Discretions, New York, New York. Her work has been discussed in Artforum, the New York Times, the New Yorker, Hyperallergic, the Brooklyn Rail, CULTURED, and New York Magazine. She is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in painting and a Pollock-Krasner Award, and has been in residence at MacDowell and Yaddo.
