Horse Shows

• Free daily horse shows 11:00 & 14:00

Watch free horse shows in our outdoor arena, and see our expert historical horse riders demonstrate skill-at-arms. Two shows daily 11:00 and 14:00. Visit the stables and meet the horses and their grooms.

Autism friendly horse shows

The horse shows on Friday 28 July will be accessible for people with autism, as part of the Autism Friendly Waterfront Festival. The following adjustments have been made to make these shows autism-friendly:

• Performers will be playing ‘themselves’ not a character in these dates
  
• Performers will not be wearing anything that covers their face
  
• No background music will be played
  
• Pat the pony will happen after each horse show in the stables to avoid crowding
  
• We will be implementing a ‘relaxed’ seating option where visitors can choose which side of the arena. Hopefully this will give visitors more space
  
• Ahead of the second show, visitors will be told verbally that there will be loud bangs and blank firing planned. The visitors will be warned during the show when this will happen and a countdown will be given.
  

History comes to life

Meanwhile inside the museum there will be a packed programme of live-action combat demonstrations with historical characters and weaponry, plus dramatic performances and talks.

Opening hours: 10:00 - 17:00
