About this Event
The Visionary experience is more common than most people think. In a recent study, at least 45% of individuals experience non-normative states of consciousness minimally once in their lifetime. For artists, surely the percentage would be significantly higher.
“Visions” are glimpses, peeks, forrays, and experiences into other realms and states of being. The exhibition features artists from around the world who are members of the prestigious Society for the Art of Imagination.
The Society for the Art of Imagination was founded in 1961 by Brigid Marlin and a small cohort of fellow visionary artists. They were encouraged by modern master Ernst Fuchs to expand because there were artists around the world who needed to connect and that together, they could forward the visionary, sacred, imaginary, and fantastical realism art genres. For the last sixty three years, the Society has exhibited throughout Europe, Asia and the United States, sharing member’s exceptional visions and work with audiences around the world.
With great pleasure, we welcome the artists of the Society for Art of Imagination at the Berkeley Alembic for this truly incredible exhibition.
