About this Event

Join designer and maker Dr. Sal Edwards (they/them) for a hands-on workshop on visible mending techniques. Learn how to transform your beloved garments by turning tears and flaws into beautiful, unique features through simple methods like hand sewing, patching, and darning. Participants are encouraged to bring their own garments in need of visible repairs, whether it’s ripped jeans, a stained item, or a cherished piece ready for a refresh. All additional materials, including recycled fabrics for practice, will be provided. No prior sewing experience is necessary.

Dr. Sal Edwards (they/them) is a designer, artist, researcher and teacher who lives and works in Meanjin/Brisbane. Over the last decade, Sal has been teaching and developing curriculum across fashion design, history and theory at QUT, Collarts and ICMS, as well as facilitating skills-based workshops and delivering lectures at institutions such as QAGOMA, The UQ Art Museum and Moreton Bay Regional Galleries.

The workshop is limited to 15 places so get in quick to register!
