Visible Cinema is GFT's deaf and hard of hearing friendly film programme. Join us on Wednesday 19 June at 6.10pm for RCS Curates: Visible Cinema (N/C 15+).
Hosts Kodi and Yuki, from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s BA Performance in British Sign Language cohort, have curated this summer edition. It showcases work from deaf and hearing filmmakers, focusing on narrative fiction and visual storytelling. After the films, our hosts will lead a discussion.
There will be full access for deaf and hard of hearing cinema-goers at this screening. The films will have descriptive captions, and the introduction and discussion will have Live Captioning and BSL interpretation. There are no trailers before the films.

A brief and sweet moment in time as two people learn to overcome their language barriers and communicate.
8 Years, 2024, directed by Will Clark and Klarissa Webster
This short experimental film follows two old friends, both deaf, who meet again after many years. Their reunion stirs strong emotions as they face unresolved issues from their past, revealing significant differences that challenge their friendship. The film uses innovative visual storytelling techniques to vividly portray the emotions and detailed body language of the deaf characters in conflict.
