After a year of wonderful zoom art webinars that we had with you during the lockdown, this time we would like to invite you to join us to travel virtually to the world’s famous art galleries. Andrew Spira, the former curator of the Victoria&Albert museum in London and a programme director for 16 years at Christie’s Education, will be guiding you thought the art collections on a virtual tours to Florence, Vienna and Saint Petersburg.
These art history tours will be complemented with three practical webinars that will explore the subject of perspective
And here is the second session which will focus on the optical effects as seen in the portrait of one of the progressive paintings of the late Renaissance Francesco Mazzola, often called as Parmigianino. His interest is beyond the classical perspective of the High Renaissance painting and is a perfect example of the shift between the late Renaissance to the style of Mannerism, and later - Baroque. This portrait has become an essential part of the curiosities of Rudolf II’s court in Prague, and is now housed in The Kunsthistorischesmuseum in Vienna. In this session you will be invited you to create a self-portrait using the perspective of a cover mirror.
For a practical session you will require:
A3, A4 or A2 180gsm or higher white paper, canvas or canvas board, a pencil, rubber/eraser, any paints available - gouache, poster paints. acrylics, or oils (if you are comfortable in using them - please note that there will be no detailed guidance on how to use oil paints). A reference image or images printed or saved on a different device, a photograph of yourself or someone else, a mirror, a ruler, and extra piece of paper (any)
2-hour painting workshop
