Virtual The Sky Tonight Astronomy Talk - Dwarf Planets

This month, we will give an honorable mention to our 5 officially designated dwarf planets: Pluto, Eris, Ceres, Makemake, and Haumea. Learn why this category was developed, how dwarf planets are different from planets, and why astronomers chose to remove the ninth 'planet' from the list.
