About this Event

Join a free 10-week program that explores gender identity starting on Tuesday, January 26th at Guelph Community Health Centre - come and learn more during our virtual Open House orientation session on Tuesday, January 19th from 6:00 - 7:00 PM.

This group will provide reliable, up to date information about the process of transitioning. Some of the topics include exploring your sense of self, self acceptance, celebrating your true self, coming out to family and friends, dealing with discrimination, self esteem and meeting others like you.

The group program “Gender Journeys” was developed in 2005 when we realized that people coming for medical care related to transition needed more time than we could provide during regular office visits to explore the social, emotional and physical aspects of gender change - and also needed a safe place to talk to others like themselves . The Gender Journeys Group was designed so that people in the early stages of transition could discuss changes in relationships with loved ones, grapple with discrimination, share tips about dressing to pass, discover new community resources, and use the process of dialogue and reflection to become more secure and resilient in their new identities.

Guelph Community Health Centre is excited to offer this program through a partnership with HIV/AIDS Resources and Community Health (ARCH) to ensure the most up-to-date information, delivered by and for transgender and gender independent people here in our own community, as well as those questioning and exploring their gender identity.

The group will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00PM until 7:30PM online via Zoom, with meetings happening:

  • January 26th
  • February 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd
  • March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th.

*If you work with a support person, get in touch around how we can best accommodate you and your needs.
