The Virginia Black Film Festival celebrates its third year as a partnership with Visit Williamsburg. The event will feature dozens of films in competition, accomplished guest speakers, celebrity guests, and a Gala Awards Show, all designed to make Black filmmakers and Black entrepreneurs more visible and accessible to the community and to each other.
The theme of the festival is "Black Excellence; Past, Present, & Future!" 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding and Virginia is the nucleus of these events. VBFF 2026 will celebrate the essential role that African American’s played in the origin of the nation and the critical importance of telling stories that represent the culture in a positive and authentic way. Exceptional films will be showcased and awarded in multiple categories, including special subcategories for historically significant films.
