Our first session in our new home of The Fox and Crown sees our very good friend Stuart present us with the 2012 debut album, World Music by the Swedish band Goat. Very little is known about the band as they cloak themselves in mystery, wear masks onstage and never reveal their names, but there's some quotes here that may help you with your understanding of the band if you're unfamiliar with them:
"Goat has been around as a spiritual collective for centuries. But in the year 2012, some of us got in a studio together in Gothenburg and recorded the World Music album"
"What music influenced us? Oh man…everything between heaven and hell is the only answer to that question. But ritual drums and the sound of the howling wind might be the answer you seek."
Stuart has told me that his presentation is going to be one of his personal story with that band...not least because very little is known about them outside of their released music and live shows.
Stuart has been a longtime supporter of Sunday Vinyl in it's different incarnations both in Newark and Nottingham. I know this will be a good one, even if you don't know the music of Goat, it's going to be really interesting to enter into their world for a couple of hours.
