About this Event
Vinyl Dreams: A Collector’s Legacy is a two-part multimedia music experience.
Part One is curated by DJ Gravesend Selector, who captivates audiences through live vinyl soundscaping, looping, and storytelling. Drawing from the extensive record collection of his late uncle—spanning rock and roll, R&B, soul, and Asian pop from the 1960s through the 1980s—the program traces a musical journey from Hong Kong to Manhattan’s Lower East Side, when CBGB’s and punk rock defined the era.
Part Two features a live performance by the duo Lulu Lewis, whose sound blends post-punk, new wave, disco, and soul—both avant-garde and irresistibly danceable. The New York City–based band was founded by vocalist and actress Dylan Hundley (Metropolitan, directed by Whit Stillman) and multi-instrumentalist Pablo Martin (Tom Tom Club).
Gravesend Selector (James D. Wong) is a Chinese American, New York–based vinyl DJ, turntablist, and storyteller known for his meticulous curation and refined mixing style. A fixture of NYC and Jersey City nightlife, he built Café Maud’s all-vinyl program and has held residencies at Deep Space Art Gallery, Low Fidelity Bar, and The Alps in Jersey City.
