It has been 200 years since Captain John Dix, a veteran of the War of 1812, founded Dixboro in 1824. Join us August 2, 3 & 4 to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Village of Dixboro! The celebration begins on Friday afternoon at 3:00 and ends with fireworks that night. The celebration continues from noon to 6 pm on Saturday and from 10 am to noon on Sunday morning. In addition to a variety of musicians, yummy food options, activities for children and families, including demonstrations from the Michigan Folk School, there will be a live presentation from a relative of Captain Dix, founder of Dixboro. Here is the schedule of events:Friday, August 2, 2024
-Farmers’ Market with food trucks & live music
-Kid friendly activities, i.e., a Bounce House, games
-Fireworks at 9 PM
Saturday, August 3, 2024
-Presentations by a relative of Captain John Dix, the founder of Dixboro.
-Demonstrations & performances from local businesses/organizations.
-Morning classes, including blacksmithing & woodworking, along with afternoon craft demonstrations, offered by the Michigan Folk School.
-Tai Chi demonstration.
-Videos of the history of Dixboro and the Schoolhouse.
-Live music performances, kid friendly activities, including a bounce house and Township Fire Truck.
-Dedication of a new Dixboro historic marker on the Village Green.
