Viking School for Kids will take place on Tuesday, December 30th 12:00 - 3:00 pm at Nordia House in Portland. This is a perfect event for kids ages 8-12.
What is "Viking school"?
We will discuss some of the historical Danish contributions Vikings made to society that are interesting to children and facts about Vikings and their stories including:
Legos
The Little Mermaid
The Ugly Duckling
The Emperor's New Clothes
The Snow Queen and many more Hans Christian Andersen's stories that have been made into movies by Disney
Discuss the sailing on longboats and how they ruled a large portion of England for years
Discuss Holger Danske and how he was a legendary hero that incorporates stories of Charlemagne of France and King Arthur
Craft projects include:
Family Crests utilizing photos out of magazines to create their own shields
Decorating wooden swords and helmets
