A 5 day in-person Viewpoints intensive, for experienced improvisers.
A 5 day in-person Viewpoints intensive, for experienced improvisers. Viewpoints is a theatre vocabulary that developed from dance improvisation and choreography. It's a valuable tool for awareness of physical presence and stage picture, embodiment of emotional cues, maintaining focus in a scene, and meaningful scene work. Viewpoints bridges gaps between abstract and concrete, and allows for scenes and shows with layers of meaning and form. We'll cover group work, scene work, movement on stage (all physical abilities welcome, this will not be an athletic endeavour), soft focus, pacing, and finding the, 'what's this really about?' in a scene.
This class is for experienced improvisers or those with an acting background. By that I mean folks who are comfortable with grounded scene work and with receiving gentle notes/side coaching. There's no specific entry requirements beyond that, because folks from all different backgrounds are very welcome; please feel free to pop me an email if you're not sure if this class is for you.
Classes are 10-6 Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch and breaks as needed. There are lots of nice places to eat nearby, and folks from out of town will find lots of options for accommodation as well. The venue has flat access via a lift, and gender neutral loos. There is strip lighting in the building, though if it's sunny we might not need it! Please get in touch for any other access needs, we'll always do our best.
