Course description
The first part of this course includes learning the basics of filming using the camera in all the right ways and techniques. The second part is the implementation on what the students like to do such as creating stories for personal use or for social media.
Thus, students will also be instructed to tell stories on their social media to grow their platform in a compelling way.�
Whether they are doing a funny video or a serious one, it is important to learn how to shoot it properly, so the end result would be something spectacular and rich.
Stories could be something they want to talk about or something they would like to show such as creating content for their channel. For example, recipe or cooking videos/gardening videos/poems/art videos.
Therefore, in this course students will learn the following:
• How to visually tell a story using the tools at hand (Camera/phone and editing software)
• What is visual storytelling
• When telling a story, how to tell it and film it properly
• How to do a shot list and prepare the shoot
• What stories to tell and how to tell them �
• How to captivate people in their stories through their digital platforms �
• How to film these videos �
• How to shoot these stories depending on the format of the digital platform used (Instagram/Facebook) �
• Tips and Tricks for their short videos or films �
• Types of videos they want to shoot (Recipe, Workout, Gardening, Art…)
• A technical overview of how to shoot (Shutter speed/Aperture/ISO/Framing…)
• In-class activities and shoots �
Prerequisites: Basic Photography & Video Editing.
