.Join local artist Daniella D. for a fun, hands-on workshop where you’ll craft a unique collaged card or art piece, with a modern twist on the vintage Victorian Valentine. Explore themes of love, nature, and symbolism through collage, and learn about Floriography—the secret language of flowers used to communicate hidden desires—and Vinegar Valentines, hilarious, mean-spirited cards sent anonymously in the Victorian era.
All materials are provided, including curated vintage images, retro ribbons, lace, floral fabric, found art objects, and more from Daniella D’s personal collection. You’ll have everything you need to design a beautiful piece that can be gifted or framed as a keepsake. This is a relaxed and creative activity, and the cards come out beautifully. Collage alongside creative types or the creatively-curious. It will be a inspiring community afternoon.
About the artist: Daniella D. is a downtown artist and museum educator with a BA in Fine Arts and Art History. She is a warm and welcoming instructor who teaches unusual art activities. Known for her engaging, hands-on workshops, she specializes in unique art forms like House Blessing Shrines. She loves using upcycled materials whenever possible in her paintings, collages, and her original holiday ornaments which are both contemporary and folkloric.
