Welcome to the SECOND Victoria Wave Rave! While last year saw a fleet of pirates take to Gorge ☠️🏴☠️ ...
The vision this year is inspired by the magic that was last year, and is focused around ocean and earthly daydreams 🌸🦄☀️✨️, shimmering magical splendor🪄🔮and wonder, just like the ocean waves 🌊 🧜♀️🧜♂️✨️🪄 Embrace your inner god/goddess, the magic, your dreams and light within ✨️☀️😊🔮🪄🌺
Paddle to some sweet beats along the upper/lower Gorge waterway in Victoria, with some fun stops along the way to boogie, hydrate and snack! 🌊🏄♀️✨️
✨️**This event is open to everyone! – but paddling experience IS required.**✨️
🎶🎵 Paddle down the gorge and then out towards the sunset, alongside the DJ (not an official DJ) – with a specially curated playlist spanning EDM genres (house, tropical, electro)🌴✨️with some classic dance classics and vibes thrown in for good measure 🎶🎵
✨️ Be kind, be cool, good vibes, open to meeting new people, and look out for each other. :)
✨️ Gather together as friends and meet some new ones! 🫂
✨️ Bring: Your own paddleboard/kayak/canoe, personal floatation device* (PFD), hydration/snacks, positive vibes! 🥨🧀💧🥽🏊♀️
✨️ Have fun & be safe! This is a free, public, unsanctioned gathering of fellow Victoria paddlers 😎
*FYI: It is required that anyone operating a paddleboard/kayak/canoe in B.C. must have their own PFD with them or on their person to participate and paddle in Gorge area.
🔺️ Etiquette:
Be sure to follow Harbour Rules (found here: https://www.fgpaddle.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/FGPC-RulesoftheHarbourandGorge2019-ColRegsTrafficFlow-1.pdf )
✨️ Respect people’s space, but also be aware that this may be a large group, so will also likely be close together. Watch out for boaters, other recreational watercraft users and keep to the shorelines. 🏄♀️🛶🐋
LAST YEAR I made good use of a megaphone, which I will be utilizing again, that helped us navigate around other boats, paddlers (even a swimmer!) And everyone did an amazing job navigating as part of a group! ❤️
🎶🎵 Follow the DJ (not an official DJ): The “leader” will have a specially curated DJ mix of good EDM tunes for everyone to enjoy, so get ready to boogie and vibe on your boards/kayaks listening to some sweet beats and nostalgic dance throwbacks. The genre will primarily be EDM/house/Euro/Tropical.🎵🎶🌴✨️ (no live mixing)
✨️If this sounds like your vibe – then grab your paddles and let’s go!✨️
✨️*Paddling experience required, as the tides/waves in upper/inner gorge can vary depending on weather/winds, not for first time paddlers, the route will take approximately 3-4 hours of paddling time, with a couple of breaks in between!
🔺️ Route and Stops (may change depending on weather)
🔺️ Meeting point:
We will start AND finish at Banfield docks in Gorge (with optional sunset meet/dancing/hangout at the floating dock - same as last year 😊)
Paddlers should meet in Gorge waterway, off the Banfield docks at 4pm. The idea is to stay around this area for about 30 minutes before starting to paddle. This will give latecomers a chance to join in, and for the firstcomers to enjoy some good tunes and even an early swim near the docks.
Based on some feedback from last year, this year we will aim to paddle a bit SLOWER so paddlers of all abilities and types of boards aren't struggling to keep up!
For those of you who recall, last year was an absolutely amazing time ❤️
It was so great to meet so many new friends and locals while listening to some good music and enjoying the sunshine 🌞 Let's do it again!
MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW IN THE COMING WEEKS/MONTHS.
See you all in July! ☀️🌊
