The VicDebSoc AGM is right around the corner! It will be on October 9th, 6:30pm in KK303. We will vote for the new exec there and the current exec will deliver their reports. Here is a short description of all the roles:
President:
The President is the head administrative figure of the society. You will be tasked with ensuring that everything is running smoothly within the society, facilitating external events, such as tournaments or show debates, and communicating Vic’s position on several topics in the New Zealand Universities Debating Council.
Vice-President:
The Vice President is in charge of organising club nights - setting motions and sorting teams and judges. They also generally help the president with the running of the society.
Treasurer:
The treasurer is responsible for managing everything to do with money, the main two responsibilities are invoicing for every tournament and the annual report to charities NZ.
Secretary:
The secretary is in charge of minute taking for meetings and organizing the weekly newsletter. This position requires commitment to club nights, and keen organizational skill to keep on top of things.
Equity:
Equity officer is about ensuring everyone feels safe and included in debating. This is through giving briefings and resolving conflicts related to any forms of discrimination/conflict.
General Executive (x5 Roles):
There are 5 general exec members! If you’re on the general exec, you might take on a specific responsibility, for example socials or development. Or, you might just help out where needed when different tasks come up.
