Vhay, I am Savitribai Phule recounts the extraordinary life of a 19th-century trailblazer whose progressive ideas and actions defied the norms of her time. Despite starting out illiterate, Savitribai, with the guidance of her husband Jyotirao Phule, also known as Jyotiba, became India’s first female teacher, championing women’s education and empowerment.Inspired by Jyotiba’s activism, Savitribai emerged as a dynamic leader, managing orphanages, aiding the needy during crises and speaking up for the oppressed. Together, they founded the Satyashodhak Samaj, challenging caste and gender inequalities.
Even after Jyotiba’s passing, Savitribai continued their mission with unwavering dedication. Their enduring partnership and tireless work serve as a beacon of inspiration, shedding light on contemporary societal issues and offering valuable lessons for future generations.
