Experience VFS’s Makeup Design program & your future as a makeup artist.
About this Event

VFS All Access Pass is your exclusive backstage access to Vancouver Film School’s industry-leading Makeup Design for Film & Television program and a chance to experience your future in production makeup. Meet an Emmy-nominated alum, experience prosthetic transformations and a production makeup show & tell, and more!

EXPERIENCE ALL THAT THE PROGRAM OFFERS

VFS’s Makeup Design program trains makeup artists in a full-immersion studio environment to tell stories through production makeup – all in just 12 months. Learn how VFS trains you hands-on and helps you craft a powerful production portfolio – the ultimate industry calling card – so that you can join the industry FASTER and be part of a Makeup alumni that’s worked on Oppenheimer, The Last of Us, Andor, Final Destination: Bloodlines, and more.

INDUSTRY TALK WITH EMMY NOMINEE CHELSEA MATTHEWS

In 2025, Makeup Design alumni Chelsea Matthews and Jessica Wong were both Emmy-nominated for their makeup artistry on HBO’s captivating series The Last of Us (Outstanding Contemporary Makeup category). Chelsea Matthews be in attendance for a Q&A on her training experience at VFS and working on HBO’s award-winning series, including a showcase of her best work.

EXPERIENCE A LIVE PROSTHETIC TRANSFORMATION

Watch in real-time throughout the event as two VFS Makeup Artists apply two very different prosthetic looks to their subjects and get a detailed look at the products they’re using. The big reveal happens at the end of the day. Witness two spectacular transformations: a fantastical beast-like character (think Beauty and the Beast) and a spooky creature (right out of a horror movie!).

PRODUCTION MAKEUP SHOW & TELL

VFS’s Makeup department will “show & tell” the prosthetics, life casts, molds, masks, wigs, hairpieces, etc. that you'll use in the program, allowing you to take a close look at a variety of industry-standard tools the professionals use. You’ll also take a look at the official VFS Makeup Kit – your essential starter kit that you receive as part of your tuition on Day 1 at VFS.

YOUR 1-ON-1 PORTFOLIO REVIEW

The final portion of the event will be dedicated to portfolio reviews with our faculty. This is completely optional, and limited spots are available. If you are registering for a portfolio review, please ensure you bring, and are ready to discuss, your work – anything on your phone or in a physical portfolio that illustrates your passion for production makeup.

MEET THE HEAD OF THE PROGRAM
Industry veteran Stan Edmonds, (Scary Movie, The Butterfly Effect, I Robot) will explain how VFS’s Makeup Design program launches your career in production makeup and why it creates award-winning artists. VFS Makeup Design alumni have won 70+ IMATS, 9 Leos, and even the SYFY competition reality series Face Off.

" My experience at VFS was really great. I learned so much, and I definitely felt prepared to walk onto a film set after graduating. I was landing gigs quite soon after graduating – short films, student projects, hallmark movies, and non-union productions.”

Emmy-winner, Shōgun (Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup)
