ABOUT VETSINTECH
VetsinTech is the only non-profit devoted 100% to getting veterans into the tech industry. Our organization is made up of technology industry leaders and former service members who support our veterans by connecting them to the national technology ecosystem through Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship – the 3Es! VIT is committed to bringing together our tech-specific network, resources, and programs to help our veterans transition from the military and into their new careers.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
Finding a job after their military service affects nearly 200,000 veterans every year. About 75% of our veteran heroes are transitioning out of the military without a job, according to the Pew Research Center. A U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation study from 2016 found that 53% of veterans are unemployed for four months or longer after leaving the military. The vast majority of veterans do not have a plan for a post-military job, let alone a post-military career. At the same time, the demand for professionals in web development, software engineering, and cybersecurity professions is increasing exponentially. With some training and the right networking opportunities, Veterans are an ideal fit for some of these critical vacancies. VetsinTech helps to train not only active duty service members and veterans but also military spouses. By providing valuable training at no cost to veterans and their spouses. And for those who want to work for themselves as entrepreneurs in tech, VetsinTech has programs to expedite their success as well.
Our education programs combined with our Employer Coalition Meetups put veterans face to face with tech recruiters who are actively seeking veterans – adding the human dimension – as opposed to submitting job applications and resumes in the virtual domain where feedback is rare to non-existent.
OUR SUCCESSES ARE YOUR SUCCESSES
The Fall Veteran’s Day Gala is VetsinTech’s major fundraising event to support our critical mission. Sponsorships, in-kind gifts, and individual contributions have a direct impact on our programmatic offerings and on our ability to improve the lives of veterans nationwide, but especially in our local community.
