On Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, you can become a part of a powerful national campaign right here in Beaufort, SC. Join us as we honor the courage and sacrifice of the 1st SC Volunteers of African Descent/33rd US Colored Troops!We join the African American Civil War Memorial Museum's national effort to remember the over 200,000 USCT Veterans who fought for freedom and democracy. At our local commemoration, community members will help read the names of almost 1,400 men and women associated with this historic local regiment, giving their stories life once more.
The Institute for the Study of the Reconstruction Era (ISRE) proudly partners with the Edward Wallace Camp #21 Sons & Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Fred Washington, Sr. Women's Relief Corps of SC #1 to bring this moving tribute to the Lowcountry.
The public is invited to this free, powerful event at Noon at the Beaufort Grand Army of the Republic Hall. Come help us honor our heroes!
