In partnership with the Prince George's County Office of Veterans Affairs, join us for a "33 Black Frog: An American Story" screening. Directed and produced by Andre Ferguson Films and Production, 33 Black Frog: An American Story, an inspiring documentary chronicling the life of Chief Petty Officer Eddie L. Ferguson, one of the first African American Navy UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) “Frogmen” now known as the Navy SEALS during a racially divisive time in America.
Following the viewing, there will be a Q&A with the Director and Producer, Andre Ferguson.
About the Documentary
The life story of Eddie Ferguson, an African American Frogman, father, son, and husband born and raised during the 1940s and '60s in the segregated south of Jacksonville and Fort Myers, Florida. Instead of being consumed by negative influences during the Jim Crow era in the streets of Ft Myers, Florida, Eddie pursued his dreams. He joined one of the Navy's elite special warfare groups, the Underwater Demolition Team (UDT), now known as The Navy Seals. 33 Black Frog provides exposure to an African American role model (Eddie) and his quest to battle all obstacles to reach his American Dream of life and pursue what makes him happy.
This event is a tribute to our nation’s heroes and an opportunity to understand their personal and professional challenges in the line of duty. Let us unite to honor the brave men and women who serve our country through art and film and deepen our appreciation for the sacrifices made by military families.
