About this Event

The Veteran Career Connect Cohort is a supportive, veteran-led job search group designed to help you build a 90-day personalized employment execution plan in partnership with a Veteran Employment Specialist. Whether you're newly transitioning, seeking a career change, or returning to the workforce, this cohort will keep you accountable and on track toward meaningful employment.



What to Expect:
  • Collaborative employment planning with Veteran Employment Specialist
  • Resume and interview coaching
  • Job search strategies and labor market insights
  • Peer support and real-time progress tracking

Each biweekly session includes a check-in on your job search progress, time to work on your Plan, and support in navigating any challenges you may face.



Event Details:

📅 Start Date: Biweekly (Every Other Monday)

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

📍 Location: American Job Center NE – 2201 Shannon Place SE


If you have your own laptop, we encourage you to bring it—this will make it easier for you to manage your application submissions and save your documents for future use.

This is a free, in-person event open to veterans in the DMV area. Spots are limited—we are accepting up to 10 veterans per day to ensure personalized support.

Each time we meet, we’ll focus on a different part of your job search journey. Every session builds on the last, helping you move forward with confidence and clarity.

  • Kickoff: Map Your Career Journey

Reflect on your work history, values, and goals. Begin creating your personalized 90-day employment plan.

  • Choose Your the Direction

Explore industries, research job outlooks, and set short-term goals with support from your Veteran Employment Representative.

  • Market Yourself Professionally

Get resume tips, build or update your LinkedIn profile, and learn how to highlight your experience.

  • Interview & Job Search Strategies

Practice common interview questions, develop answers using the STAR method, and build a job search checklist.

  • Overcome Job Search Barriers

Identify any personal or professional challenges and connect to support services and referrals.

  • Plan Review & Next Steps

Review your progress, revise your employment plan if needed, and set up your next steps after the cohort ends.
