About this Event
Welcome to Vespers at UUC Stamford! Join us for a peaceful evening of reflection and the intersection of musical and spiritual practices. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month (Sept - June) from 7:30 PM to 8:30 pm. Come unwind and recharge with our community as we come together to center ourselves and find inner peace. We look forward to seeing you there!
More About Vespers at UUC:
Vespers at UUC is an evolving, congregant-led initiative. Our monthly evening service is modeled after Vespers worship services at All Souls Church, Unitarian (in Washington, DC) that draw on several traditions, including that of the Taizé monastic community in France and various Eastern religions.
About Taizé worship services:
"Traditional Taizé worship services use silence, scripture, prayer, and repetitive singing of short chants or rounds to quiet the mind and promote deep meditation. Various mantras and Sanskrit chants promote inner peace and well-being and, in the Hindu tradition, take on a greater spiritual value when they are spoken or sung aloud. Silence and deep contemplation are also encouraged as a means to invite in new energy, or prana (“life force”)." -- an excerpt from All Souls Church's website
