Verva is a jazz quartet from Czechia that presents modern original music with an ambient touch. The band was founded in 2022 by four classmates, Michal Grombiřík, Hynek Čejka, Daniel Kéry and Tomáš Spiřík, during their studies at the JAMU jazz department. Verva's repertoire consists of original compositions from all the members as well as jazz standards in modern arrangements. The audience is captivated by their distinctive dreamy sound; their unique approach is characterized by the elegant sound symbiosis of the cimbalom with the electric guitar, accompanied by energetic yet sensitive playing on the double bass and drums. In 2023, the band gained wider recognition when they won the award for Best Original Composition – Apogee – at the New Faces of Slovak Jazz competition in Bratislava. Currently, they are finishing an album in collaboration with musicians from Valencia's Berklee College of Music, which is set to release this year.live performance -
