Please join us for an evening of Ukrainian winter traditions. The evening will feature a re-imagining of the ancient custom of Vertep - a puppet theatre depiction of the Christmas story with some contemporary twists. Also included is the New Year traditions of Malanka, where costumed characters visit to create mischief, merriment, and to bring good wishes, much like Mummering in Newfoundland. Even a few Mummers will be allowed in! The evening will also feature traditional carols and New Year incantations with accompaniment by the award winning Ukrainian speed-folk band Kubasonics.This is a free event but a ticket is required.
