About this Event
This month, we will be writing Verses of Victory — poems about perseverance, passion, and triumph against all odds. What does it mean to persevere? What does it mean to be victorious? How can we encourage our loved ones to accomplish their goals, despite the obstacles? This poetry workshop invites writers of all levels to explore the strength it takes to keep going — even when the world gives you every reason to give up. Verses of Victory is a space to turn pain into purpose, obstacles into art, and setbacks into stepping stones.
Through guided prompts and group discussion, led by Alejandra Roggero and Jacob De La Vara, participants will reflect on personal moments of perseverance — times they held on, pushed through, or rose up after being knocked down. Whether you're overcoming loss, trauma, self-doubt, or silence, this workshop is a safe, uplifting space to put your journey into words — and celebrate the strength it took to get here. Come write your story of survival! Your voice and your story matters! Bring a friend and join us for a special night surrounded by wonderful community and good drinks.
If this is your first time joining us, welcome! Poetry for the Masses was created in March of 2024 by writer Alejandra Roggero with the intention of fostering a poetry community that made poetry workshops and the radical joy of art accessible to ALL. We’re doing just that. For the last few months, we’ve joined forces with Burden of Proof, a non alcoholic bottle shop and market located in the heart of South Pasadena… and we’re so happy about it!
Tickets for our PFTM series with Burden of Proof are $25pp and here’s what’s included: non-alcoholic mixed beverage served up by BOP off their tasting menu or from their chilled fridge, workshop prompts, writing materials, snacks, water, and 10% off all beverages from Burden of Proof day of workshop!

Our workshops and open mics are open to all peoples and bodies, as well as artists and creatives of all levels, interests, and disciplines. Our community is supportive, talented, and hilarious.
