Experience the overwhelming dramatic power and sublime beauty of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem, performed in Bristol Beacon’s resonant acoustic by 140 voices and a full symphony orchestra, fusing operatic drama with profound emotional depth and spiritual intensity.
This monumental rollercoaster work for chorus, soloists, and orchestra brings together vast forces in one of the most celebrated settings of the Requiem Mass ever composed. From the thunderous intensity and extreme drama of the Dies Irae to the serene peace of the Lacrimosa and the transcendent hope of the Libera me, Verdi’s masterpiece vividly portrays the full range of human emotion with unforgettable impact.
A star-studded line up of operatic soloists includes New Zealand-born soprano Marlena Devoe, and English National Opera mezzo soprano Samantha Price. They are joined celebrated tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones, who has sung leading roles at many of the world’s major opera houses, and bass Callum Thorpe, a soloist with Welsh National Opera and Glyndebourne.
