Bio-
Venissa Santi, Ithaca-born of Cuban descent, is a jazz vocalist and composer trained in Philadelphia and in Cuba, who has been performing locally for over 10 years. The trio - approaching its 4th year, with Michael Stark on piano and Olive Mitra on drums — performs original and obscure gems w/ Afro‑Cuban jazz rhythms. She is a 2008 Fellow and has earned praise for being audacious from artists such as Danilo Pérez and Rubén Blades. She has released acclaimed albums 2009 Bienvenida and 2013 Big Stuff: Afro‑Cuban Holiday on Sunnyside Records and is currently developing a new album of material recorded at Sunwood studios, projected to be released in 2026.
