Master Gardener Susan Hammond will explain why vegetable gardening is something everyone can enjoy, from the novice to the experienced gardener. She notes it can be a way to bring fresh food to the table, a way to teach children where food comes from or even a way to beautify your yard! She will present different types of vegetable gardens and discuss layout, variety of choices, and growing techniques.
Speaker Bio: Ms. Hammond is a Lifetime Master Gardener with the Massachusetts Master Gardener Association. She’s been gardening since childhood, with a special focus on edible plants. She is the past keeper of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s 6000-square-foot Garden-to-Table vegetable garden, and one of the founders of the new Medford Food Pantry Garden, growing vegetables on the site of an urban food pantry while teaching volunteers and the public about vegetable gardening.
