Welcome to the art and practice of Vedic Chanting! Through the traditional method of listening and repeating, students will learn and experience, in a group setting, the chanting of Chapter 1 of the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali.
Chanting is a powerful tool and timeless practice for positively influencing all dimensions of the human system. A dedicated practice of it contains the ability to penetrate to the core of our being, while training the mind and opening the heart for meditation.
The outline of this one-hour session will be:
40 minutes of call and response Vedic chanting, followed by 20 minutes of guided or silent meditation.
This weekly class will be led by Jarrod Roy BA, E-RYT500.
Jarrod Roy is a certified Viniyoga Instructor. Viniyoga is a comprehensive and authentic transmission of the teachings of yoga including āsana, prāṇāyāma, bandha, sound, chanting, meditation, personal ritual and study of texts. Viniyoga (prefixes vi and ni plus yoga) is an ancient Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application.
Jarrod promises to give you an authentic experience of yoga. He possesses an unmistakable passion and joy for teaching and spiritual study, upholding the full breadth of the ancient yoga tradition.
Jarrod’s approach to yoga is gentle, inclusive, intuitive, and adaptive. You can expect him to lovingly challenge you beyond only asana postering. He promises to enliven your breath, your intellect, your heart and your spirit through a multi-dimensional approach, interweaving: pranayama, mantra, meditation and spiritual philosophy into his classes. His goal is empowerment by awakening the teacher within the student.
