Join Us in Commemorating 80 Years of VE Day! 🎉This year marks the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, a momentous occasion in history when the world celebrated the end of WWII in Europe on 8th May 1945.
To honour this day, we're inviting the entire community to come together for a day of remembrance, reflection, and celebration.
Let’s unite in gratitude for the sacrifices made, celebrate the peace we cherish today, and keep the spirit of VE Day alive for future generations.
9am - Raising of the VE Day 80 flag on The Guildhall and official proclamation by the town crier.
10am - Service at the War Memorial
4pm - Cream tea at the Woodmead Halls (over 70s only)
6:30pm - Churches Ringing out in Celebration - St. Michael's Church
9pm - Torchlight Procession from the top of Langmoor Gardens.
9:30pm - Reading of the official tribute and beacon lighting on the seafront
