About this Event
This session is all about supporting the VCSE sector in Greater Manchester to get familiar with open data and how it can benefit their organisations. We’ll break down what open data is, why it’s important, and—most importantly—how you can actually use it to make smarter decisions, improve your services, and create even more impact in your communities.
What to Expect:
- What's Open Data Anyways? with Open Data Manchester — what it is, where to find it, and why it's useful for the VCSE sector.
- Macc's journey to Open Data: Hear about how Macc are advocating the use of open data and leading by example.
- GMCA Research Team: The GMCA research team will be attending to support us to understand what data is already available and being used in Greater Manchester.
Why attend?
Opportunity to contribute: Your contributions will shape our collective efforts to increase the VCSE sector's power to act by supporting a more data informed sector in Greater Manchester.
Networking: Connect with peers in the VCSE sector working with data and have deeper conversations about our sector's capacity, capability and readiness around data and intelligence to build greater equity and inclusion.
Food for thought: This event will leave you feeling more confident about using open data to make better decisions, tell your organisation’s story, and drive real impact in your community—all in a relaxed, supportive environment.
From August 2023-March 2024 10GM partnered with Data Orchard CIC to research and understand the state of data and intelligence in the VCSE sector in Greater Manchester, exploring challenges and barriers, and identifying opportunities and actions for advancing data capability in the Greater Manchester VCSE sector. This workshop is one of ten project ideas developed in response to its finding.
