Experience one of the most iconic cultural traditions in the world, Dia de Muertos! All over Mexico, people honor their ancestors and other people (even pets) who are no longer with us. See below for details on a FREE, multi-day set of engagements!Oct. 28 – Nov. 1:
Community Ofrenda (offering/altar) in the Zeiders American Dream Theater lobby. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. As a traditional part of Dia de Muertos, you are welcome to bring items honoring your ancestors to place in the ofrenda during the days leading up to the main events on Nov. 1. You may pick up your items that evening.
Nov. 1:
Lobby doors open at 5 p.m. for Cultural Equity Committee preshow mixer. Artists and community members seeking inspiration and networking opportunities are welcome to gather in the Zeiders American Dream Theater lobby to meet and enjoy Mexican treats and atmosphere.
We also invite you to view elegant and detailed fashion artistry at the Pasarela of Catrinas (pageant of catrinas) in the lobby pre-show, as community members share their interpretations of the culturally iconic Catrina.
Performances in the theater begin at 7:30 p.m. Program includes live music and traditional dance and fashion.
Events presented in partnership with the Hispanic Leadership Forum of Hampton Roads and The Zeiders American Dream Theater.
