About this Event
Over the course of more than 500 years, Brighton grew from a small village to one of the main fishing towns in the south of England, with most people employed in fishing and allied trades. However, over time, the trade declined for a number of reasons and now no longer exists. Brian Ogilvie tells the story of this rise and fall, outlining some colourful characters, some unusual facts… and possibly a quiz too!
Brian is a man of Hove but currently exiled in Brighton. He has worked in the field of taxation for many years as adviser, lecturer and examiner. His wife is Amanda and his tortoise is Cyd, and he is always careful not to mix the names up! Interests include art, history, architecture, and the English seaside
