“Desert Song” and “Evergreen” - by säje
This lecture concert explores the breadth of treble-voice choral repertoire across centuries and styles. Fauré’s “low mass” had complicated origins, but over 25 years evolved into the version you’ll hear performed: for treble voices and organ. Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” is one of the enduring masterworks from the mid 20th century and will feature Blair professor Rachel Miller on the harp. Closing the program are contemporary arrangements by the vocal ensemble säje, whose works bring a fresh, expressive voice to contemporary choral music.
