Join us on the first of December for a Sunday afternoon concert celebrating the 1 Year (& 2-ish month) Anniversary of the release of Valmy's debut album ‘The In Between’. This show will be the last Full Band performance of the year and will feature a set by special guest, Gina Burgess, sharing her magic. See you upstairs!

Valmy
Valmy is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Ontario who’s been following the ocean and making home on the East Coast. Exploring themes of wonder, loss, and healing, she uses her folk-influenced music to tell stories about loving and stumbling your way through the dark. Based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Valmy creates and performs by weaving nature-inspired melodic swells and atmospheric harmonies with her contemplative writing, as is demonstrated in her debut full-length album ‘The In Between’. Independently released in September 2023 and warmly received by listeners, this record received a thoughtful review by Tony Ploughman of Fred’s Records: “The rhythms and melodies wrap around the mind and soul like a lovingly patched quilt…There is a cohesiveness to this full album offering meditative musings on balancing one’s own mental state in harmony with nature, the songs providing a methodical process to achieve that balance. And the underlying intensity to follow through on the beckoning of one’s thoughts and emotions to create is constant…Deftly produced, engineered and mixed, “The In Between” is one of 2023’s finest NL Releases”. Valmy has been nominated for 1 ECMA and 5 MusicNL awards since the album’s release, was the 2024 MusicNL “Solo Artist of the Year” award recipient, and is settling back at home after recently concluding her solo tour across Eastern Canada this Autumn.
When the stars align, Valmy is honoured to be joined by musicians Amy Collyer-Holmes, Carole Bestvater, Darren Browne, Maria Cherwick, Tiffanie George, Tyler Stanley, and Chris Donnelly who makeup the Band of pals sharing their talents to bring the album's arrangements to life.

Gina Burgess
From Mi’kma’ki (Nova Scotia), internationally recognized artist Gina Burgess is a multi-genre violinist, composer, yoga instructor, educator, and musician wellness facilitator. A former member of the Juno nominated Iqaluit- based arctic rock band “The Jerry Cans”, a four- time ECMA award winner with the Hot Swing group “Gypsophilia”,and collaborator with numerous ensembles, Burgess is a sought after educator and performer. Her latest project, “ISNOW”, recently won an ECMA award for fusion recording of the year. This project reflects her diverse experience by mixing classical music with celtic folk and incorporating contemporary Inuit throat singing with elements of jazz. Burgess’s original music has been described as ethereal, genre-bending, and filled with Spirit.
